* All measurements are in inches unless otherwise noted. Measure over base layers and mid layers when choosing hunting outerwear.
* For layering systems, if you are between sizes, size up. Lightweight hunting apparel is often cut for an athletic, close-to-body fit.
* Backpacks are sized by torso length, not height. Measure from the C7 vertebra to the top of your hip bone. If between sizes, choose the larger pack size for heavier loads.
* Tent capacity is for comfort, not maximum occupancy. Add one person size for gear-heavy trips or cold-weather base camps.
* Sleeping bag temperature ratings are survival/limit ratings. If you sleep cold, choose a bag rated 10–15°F lower than expected temperatures. Women and cold sleepers should size down in temperature rating.
* US boot widths: Men's D = standard, EE = wide, EEEE = extra wide. Women's B = standard, D = wide.
